What did the mortgage lender ask you?

We have gone through the telephone application and replied some basic information and received the application form which also only asked very basic questions - not even what kind of contracts we are on.

Regarding documents, they only request for bank statements for current accounts, payslips and P60, plus ID proof.

Is this normal? What did the mortgage company ask you for more than these?

I still wonder how they check what kind of contract you are on. Can they tell it from the P60 or Payslips? Or this means they would absolutely want a reference from the employer?

My husband and I are in the process of getting a mortgage through the Halifax. All that they have asked for so far is a copy of my hubby's work contract (as he doesn't start until september), ID, 3 months of bank statements and a list of all previous addresses in the last 5 years or so.

We had to give permission for the bank to contact my husbands employer to check his contract details etc. They sent him a form to sign to consent to this.

Hope this helps, good luck!

MormonMummy90

I saw on the other forum, someone also mentioned Halifax asks for very few supporting documents.

Thank you!

I went with Halifax 4 years ago and they didn't even ask for bank statements. They just took ID, did a credit check and that was it. It was for a 97% mortgage too. We do have a spotless credit score but I was surprised they didn't even check income they just took our word for it

My hubbys credit rating was B so I think thats why they wanted the bank statements :)

I read lots of articles about how mortgage filtering criteria tightened in the last few years.

noisytoys, I guess what you described was the easiest few years before/at the beginning of the whole financial melt-down...

MormonMummy90, they did ask us for banks statements though. Thought that's normal...
