arrival of DD2, what do I do about child benefit?

I honestly can't remember sorting this all out with DD1, it just happened after I sorted the tax credits out?
I am still only being paid for the equivalent of 1 child and DD2 is now 9 weeks. Do I have to tell them? Send them a birth cert?

Also, do you think they would backdate me to her birthdate? I am a bit desperate for money after the electricity and gas company just decided to take a large amount of money off me without me knowing (a whole different thread)

I thought there was a form in theBounty pack? But you can probably get a form at a post office or maybe print one off. Try direct.gov.uk and search for child benefit.

Get form from Bounty pack or download
Fill it in and send off with birth certificate
Takes a couple of weeks for money to land
They back date up to 3 months
I think it is £13/wk for a second child.

Thank you! I had no idea I had to send a new claim form for the second child. Good news on the backdating, would have taught me to be more careful next time though Grin
