Theres a chance we may have to cancel our holiday abroad, ds has chicken pox and its hit and miss!
What can we do?
would the airline let us travel at a later date and just transfer everything?
If we have to claim through our insurance how do they give you the money, reason being we paid on a creditcard that we can no longer access so to give us the chance of getting another holiday we need the cash!

tbh it depends on the policy and airline. Whena re you due to go ? The airline may transfer you for a fee and any difference in cost between what you paid and what seats are now selling for, assuming there is space, unless the tickets were non-transferrable/refuindable. The holiday company probably won't give you back much if any, so you would need to claim on insurance, but that will usually pay back either via the orignal method or cheque. However any claim could take a while to process.

You would need to get a letter from your doctor saying s/he recommended you didn't go on holiday, or a letter from the airline saying you can't fly. The insurance company will send you a cheque if they accept your claim. We had to do it a few years ago, we had to pay for the doctors letter, and the claim was accepted OK.
