We took out a mortage with Birmingham Midshires two years ago on a special reduced deal for two years & then it goes back to standard variable.

Our IFA suggests we phone them & say before we remortgage to a better deal elsewhere are you able to extend the deal or do something to help us?

Has anyone done this successfully? Any tips?

we also have a 2 year discounted tracker with abbey which is ending in april. we did try but they couldn't offer anything as close to the original deal. i was hoping for a special offer! we did look into other companies but we don't want to go with expense of remortgaging every 2 years or high application fees which cancel out the slightly cheaper rates. so decided to stick with abbey on a flexible deal for life of mortgage with no redemption penalty. we originally went with london and country brokers who are the only ones who charge no fee. they also recommended we stick with abbey. have you seen money saving expert website
