I got my double paid self assessment back 5weeks later, there was a back log. Also don't request the payment online, do it over the phone.

Fucking hell

Back log might have decreased by now but I guess it's VAT deadline at the moment? Call them, if it's a lot of money, they might prioritise.

It's so annoying that you can't cancel the payment at your bank if you pay be card too.

AprilSkies · 28/02/2012 20:59

I got caught out on the fact they hadn't deducted payments on account, wonder how many others do. It's ridiculous.

VAT is paid quarterly, but deadlines always at end of month. My accounts aren't in line with fiscal year and therefore neither is VAT quarter.

Good luck, hope it works out. Keep calling them.

Thanks, it mucks up the cash flow because its so big - its in the thousands. If they delay I may have to ring bank to assist.

VAT is one thing you NEVER pay late, it will be interesting to see how quick they pay back

3 days would be marvelous

As you've paid early you might find that when you ring tomorrow they aren't as busy as they would have been if you'd left it until the last day so you may hit lucky.

Come back and update us

They told me they had to wait a certain length of time after I'd paid before they could issue a repayment so 3 days sounds optimistic but VAT payments might be different.
