Housing benefit - Do I earn too much?

I am now a single parent of 2 and earn £8800 a year. I rent privately from my brother.

I used the online calculator and it said I am not entitled to housing benefit. Would this because I earn that much? I work 16 hours a week. Thanks.

You are not entitled if you rent from a close relative so this could be your problem.

I think it could be the renting privately from a relative part althouggh not sure. I would have thought that your income would entitle you.

Entitled to is a very good site, as akiss says you wouldn't I don't think get hb to rent from your brother. Maybe go and see your local hb and explain your situation and see what they say.
