worth claiming on insurance?

my DH lost an 18 inch 9 carat gold chain and cross, think the links snapped whilst out. It was worth about 450 quid in total. DH is pissed off cos the chain was the first xmas pressie I got him. Our XS is only 50 but will it have a massive impact on future premiums? we have never claimed before

yes we are covered from losses outside the home for uo to 1000.
