Do we still need to keep bank statements for 6 months?

That's about it really. With the advancement of online banking and computerised stuff that is, do we still need to keep bank statements as I'm too lazy not organised enough to throw out old ones so am currently swimming in them Blush

So rather than wading through them when I can be bothered, can I just shred them when I get them?

I don't get paper statements any more so there's nothing to keep :) Recommend 'paperless' as an option. I rely on my statements appearing online for several months and would print one off if I had a problem.
