Until he gets another job, perhaps Job Seekers Allowance for him and Income Support for you. Plus Child Benefit for the children.

You cannot get Housing Benefit unless you are a renter.

He should be able to claim Jobseekers allowance if he is looking for another job.He would probably claim for you as well.
Also contact the Inland revenue about tax credits as they pay the child elemnet of JSA.
You can apply for both at the job centre plus. They will tell you if you can get any help with your mortgage aswell I would think. Also ask them about the sure start maternity grant.
The same happened when I was six moths pregnant with my daughter and my partner got sacked luckly I was working at the time so we managed to survie on my maternity pay for about four months.

I was in the same position as you almost 4 years ago, DH was made redundant when I was 36 weeks pregnant, we had just put in offer on our first home. Thankfully DH being a Chef he was able to pick up temp work easily but money was tight....in the end it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to him, as now he runs his own buisness and earns a lot more than he did.

so I know it is a worrying time at the moment, but it could turn out for the best.

Thanks for that cori I'm hoping things will end up turning out for the best as we've seen some jobs that are better paid than his current one that he can go for we are now looking all over the UK so will probably end up having to move as well and somewhere in between I have to give birth! I just hope he manages to finds work by January because the benefits we would get would barely cover our bills.
