I know you don't need the left one, but what about the right?

DH insists its illegal... I can't remember so am believing him.

He wants to nick my car tomorrow though, so if its not illegal, I will be happy

I thought it was only the left one you have to have

flamebat · 31/10/2005 08:31

Passenger's side got knocked off before the last MOT and we didn't have to have it replaced....

someone popped our left one out and FIL (mechanic) says it's illegal.

flamebat · 31/10/2005 08:35

How did it pass then?? And how have we not been stopped by various police checks that we have passed in the last few months???

according to a policeman friend you have to have 2 methods of looking behind you to be legal. I had damaged the mirror on my car and wanted to know if I could drive it. Mine was the passenger mirror but can't remember if I told him that or not.

Could check with the AA?

Caligula · 31/10/2005 09:31

AFAIK, it is not illegal. I was told by a policeman that you only have to have 2 mirrors on a car. He didn't specify which ones though.

Oops, cross-posted with Tatt

NannyL · 31/10/2005 09:36

ok i may well be completly wrong but i thought you had to have 2 mirrors?

(whoch included the rear view mirror)

A good friend of mine has a car that since hes owned it has NEVER had the left mirror and its past several MOTs

flamebat · 31/10/2005 14:01

Will be car-less then!!!

The joys this week of phoning to get another 2 mirrors (might as well get em both done while I'm at it )
