Ok we need new brake pads and possibly discs (going by the grinding sound) on the back car brakes.

Dp has been off work for 2 weeks and in that time my dad still hasn't managed to do it and dp is now maoning like hell cos he will have to go to work on the bus at 5 otherwise.

Anyway, any idea how much a garage would charge ??? Have no money anyway but just want to know ?

I find Kwik Fit very helpful, they will test your brakes for free and give you a proper quote before they do them. Unlike most garages (IME) who give you a quote and then add an extra £100 or so on!

Don't rely on them being Kwik though.

Right ok. We are going to be looking at more than £50 though right ??

There isn't a price list on their website, but it does say upto 50% discount on brakes.

I'd guess you are looking at more than £50 if the discs need replacing too.

Hi a friend of mine got brakes done last week. I think she paid around £170 for the whole lot. Ask them if they can come down on the price and then shop around (-:

Right , dp's just rung his son and apparently his friend is a mechanic and he said he will get the pads and do it on sunday for nothing (well for a drink)

He said if they have only just started grinding then we may be ok with just brake pads, which should be about £20.

Thanks for that though Kid, will remember that for future probs.

OMG Kathlean, we'd have to just not have it done if it was gonna cost that much.
