Woman from Online loans said she was ringing to disuss my application.

I said I hadn't applied for a loan and she double checked my name (which was correct) and then said there must have been some mistake and that was that.

Should i be worried ???? If someone is trying to get a loan in my name they will be sorely dissapointed as I couldn't get creidt for a lollipop at the mo.

They may be using that line in their coldcalling?
As part of the pitch?

nutcracker · 21/09/2005 12:04

Yeah i thought about that but wouldn't she have then tried to get me to apply ??

She just said it must be a mistake and then hung up.

You would have thought she would have tryed to sell you something

Lizzylou · 21/09/2005 12:05

True....I would try and find out the number for the form and speak with the applications dept, someone must have given them your number? You have every right to check if your personal details are being used fraudulently

expatinscotland · 21/09/2005 12:05

Sounds like a scam. I'd tell her I didn't apply for a loan and leave it at that.

SherlockLGJ · 21/09/2005 12:05

Nutty

LOL at lollipop.

I would ring them back immediately and also pop a recorded delivery letter in the post, confirming that you are aware there appeared to be some confusion on X date, but that you are not seeking to borrow any money from them now or for the forseeable future.

Recorded delivery works out at less than a quid and will be money well spent.

nutcracker · 21/09/2005 12:05

Yeah thats why i found it odd.

Oh well whoever it is won't get it anyway so they are wasting their time.

Can't ring back, there was no number.

Will look them up on here now.

Sounds like something where she'd want to take your details, then once you gave them to her, she'd use them fraudulently. Yikes! Man, that's the last thing anyone needs.

nutcracker · 21/09/2005 12:10

There is a website with that name but i don't recognise it so I know i have never applied for anything with them.

WigWamBam · 21/09/2005 12:12

Does the website have a number that you can call to check this out?

SherlockLGJ · 21/09/2005 12:12

Still think it is worth a letter.

How is college BTW... ??

tatt · 21/09/2005 12:19

sounds like someone might be trying to steal your identity. Might be worth checking your credit files to make sure no-one else is doing it but maybe you can't afford the fees . Could be she wanted to check that there was someone of your name at the address.

zippitippitoes · 21/09/2005 12:24

dd has recently put all her household bills with Secure Homes to help her manage them better and they accepted someone putting a mortgage and utility bills on her account and she only found out because she rang them about something else

they didn't bat an eyelid at the fact that she was already paying rent and utility bills to other companies.

nutcracker · 21/09/2005 12:36

Zippy, thats awful.

Will see if there is a number later when ds has his nap.

LGJ - College is erm frustrating at the mo. Spent yesterday afternoon sitting around doing bugger all as one tutor disapeared and the other hadn't been told she was teaching us so had gone home

Nutty - did they just check your name or any other details? Sometimes people fish for details, and it is amazing what we disclose to someone voluntarily over the phone.
