Do you think I can turn things around ? I made a mistake at the beginning of the year, I have forgot about an overdrawft account (284 pounds overdrawn) and it was passed to debt collectors. I'm going to have this hanging over my head for 6 years. How can I improve my score ?

Any experience ?

Have you requested a copy of your report? That's the best thing to do as you can check it all correct.

The online indicators of poor and good are mainly rubbish. One lenders criteria for borrowing is differ than anothers.

Plus how old was the account?if a default was already registered then I don't think the new company can register a new one.

A friend of mine has just got a mortgage after sorting a default to settled. Another who was bankrupt a year ago has just be given a small catalogue credit limit.

I really wouldn't worry too much- just spend time checking your finances are healthy and if not get a plan together to fix it.

I have paid 5.99 to look at it online and it says that what is against me is that I'm not on the electoral list ? Weird no ? Thank you for your answer !

Well that's the first thing to sort. And easy as you just tong electoral officer at local council.

What company is this report from? Not callmycredit

DEPECHEMODEFANISBACKTOHAUNTYOU · 19/10/2010 12:12

The thing is is that I have done it, not later than last month you know when they come knocking at your door at random time !! I did it with credit expert.

Does it say you aren't on register or not being on register can be one reason for a poor rating.

Did you vote at last election?

DEPECHEMODEFANISBACKTOHAUNTYOU · 19/10/2010 12:17

I'm French so I could only vote for local election not for big one. It says that not being on register can be one reason for poor rating, it just says that.

That wording doesnt mean you arent on the electoral register. Worth a call to local council to check.

Did you pay £5.99 just for your rating or for your report as well?

DEPECHEMODEFANISBACKTOHAUNTYOU · 19/10/2010 12:25

Yes 5.99 for rating and report.

So what is on your report?

Are you on the register? Is previous debt showing?

DEPECHEMODEFANISBACKTOHAUNTYOU · 19/10/2010 12:39

So I have checked and yes I'm not on thte register for my current address which I find weird, I have 190 pounds of credit (which I pay every month), No late payments.

They says that the positive factor is that "The outstanding balance on your credit accounts (excluding your mortgage) is low"

"You don't have any county court judgments and you have not been declared bankrupt in the last six years "

Ring the council. Ensure name is on electrol roll.

Your amount of credit is also low which can actually go against you.

DEPECHEMODEFANISBACKTOHAUNTYOU · 19/10/2010 12:44

I dont understand the less credit I have the better no ? Sorry I dont get it. Thank you so much for your help, I'm going to ring the council.

Depeche, you would think the less credit you have the better but no, it doesn't work like this.
If you have credit cards, mortgage and loans if you're keeping up on all the payments then you get lots of points for it.

DEPECHEMODEFANISBACKTOHAUNTYOU · 19/10/2010 12:49

Ok I understand now, I only have one tiny credit to my name but dh has the big ones on this name, which explains the situation.
