I need help re being refused legal aid, when calculator says I am entitled

I recently saw a solicitor with regards to the issues I need to resolve with my ex and access. She put all my financial details into a calculator and informed me I was not entitled to legal aid, supposedly my high tax credit award takes me over the threshold. She did not at any point ask me how much of this award was attributed to childcare costs. I have just filled in a calculator online which has stated that I am entitled to help and did ask me that very question.

Does anyone know how accurate these calculators are??

She's probably done it wrong if she's included the childcsre element of tc's. Ask her to recalculate based on what you've found, or ask if someone else can look the calculation over.

High tc awards tend to reflect a low income so she sounds wrong based on what you've said here.

Maybe you need a new solicitor!

Rather than keeping a solicitor in silk shirts at all, how about using one of the non-court mediation routes to resolve the issues outstanding?

thankyou...it does seem she has completely miscalculated I phoned the helpline today and they told me their calculator is very accurate. Chil I would love to go down that route but unfortunately its really complex
