Is this bank trying to make us all SAHM?

Or is it just me?

If I put in here to borrow a huge amount that we can't afford it then tells you how much it will lend us.

If my income is included as well as childcare we can borrow £257,000. If my partner applies on his own they'll lend us £300,000. This is despite the fact that after childcare I bring home an extra £700 a month. According to this I would have to bring home £1250 on top of childcare a month before they'd lend us £300,000 as a couple.

Why are my earnings not worth anything to them??

Typically it is because banks will do 3 x one salary OR 2.5 times joint salary after childcare costs.

so can i get mortgage in his name and not tell them about my income and childcare?

If DP is the SOLE applicant and he states his income I dont see why not.

They will probably ask anyway but if he is the applicant and you are covering childcare I dont see what they can object to that.
