MOT cost a fortune. Can I insure against it next time?

Another year another massive garage bill and what's worse is; in our house massive garage bill=deeply unhappy dh for weeksHmm.

I really can't afford to help him out with it this time, but wondered if I could take out a policy that would pay for any repairs the car might need next time?

Or would I be better off putting some cash in a savings account every month?

I've never heard of that sort of insurance, but I bet it would be expensive if it exists.

I would save a bit each month, then, when you car sails though the MOT next year, you will have cash to spend. Grin

You can buy service plans for cars same as you can for your central heating system. Monthly payment depends on the garage and the condition of the car. Alternatively, trade in the car for something newer or for a lease vehicle. Old cars cost more and more each year and there does come a point where it's cheaper to get rid of it than to keep fixing it.

I would put the money away monthly, those warranty plans have so many exclusions that they really are not worth it.
