So looks like I will have to claim WTC & CTC but what do they do about council tax?

'D'h and I are not getting on and he did move out and came back (didnt make any claims then as wasnt sure how long he would be gone for) anyway he is going again and I am going to have to claim CTC & WTC (I have spoken to work and changing my hours from 14hours a week to 16 hours a week so I can claim childcare costs)

Apparetnly if I am on these credits I get discounted council tax, but am worried that if (and its highly unlikely) 'd'h came back would we need to repay the discounted council tax (our friends claimed IS or JSA and had Housing benefit and discount c/tax but had to repay the c/tax when he found employment)

Also if I am on WTC/CTC would DD1 be able to have free school dinners? Looks like if 'd'h pays the mortgage with the credits/wage I should just about afford to keep the house going so am clinging to everything at the mo!

You also get discounted council tax for being a one-adult household (pay 75% I think?). If he moves back in then I would think you would have to go back to the full rate, but don't see why you would have to pay back the bit from when he wasn't there.

Try CAB for more advice, or that website 'entitled to' or something

Free school meals are only available if you don't get WTC, so you aren't eligible for those - but you will get your childcare contribution.

I'm afraid I don't know about the discount on Council Tax.
