Need some advice on pension and savings but know nothing about it. How do I find a good financial advisor, asked around and nobody seems to know anyone that they really recommend.

have you tried the yellow pages?
You need an independant one!
Which area do you live?

pinkmamma · 01/09/2005 07:38

Problem I have with yellow pages is you don't know if they are any good. My family had some very bad advice buy a financial advisor and lost a packet so I would prefer one by recommendation. In SW Wales

where abouts are you pinkmamma? I know a good one. I work in financial services and deal with alot of fv (or did, i'm on maternity leave). I probabaly shouldn't say this but out of all the one's I deal with, there are only 2 that I would let help me. Having said that, things have tightened up an awful lot in recent years so that's probably helped.

I'll email you. I have used him, still do. He's in the top 200 in the country that have taken advanced exams so you couldn't get any better really.

Try the PFS, Personal Financial Society and they have a list of advisers with good qualifications. It used to be www.sofa.org but I am not sure now what the website is but you should be able to find it under google.

fsmail · 01/09/2005 21:25

The website address is still www.sofa.org.
