What about a pre-paid card which he can only use in an emergency?

Sorry: www.moneysupermarket.com/c/prepaid-cards/guide/ should work!

Are you mad!? There's no way I would let the DC near my bank account.

I presume that he has a student bank account. Can't you top it up at your end (with cash, if necessary)?

I might be mad but he has used my card on occasions - never had a problem !! I dont want it going into his normal student account - as i don't want him to use it unless it is an emergency.

Have you defined "emergency" to your son Wink Personally, I wouldn't do it. You can transfer money and it hits their account in 2 hours so he shouldn't need a card attached to your account.

Alcohol tends to make people do crazy things, yes he may well have been a sensible boy but I went to uni and watched many a sensible boy go through money like water.

lol He knows i would kill him (and sell all his worldly possessions!) if he ever touched the money with out good reason ... I have it sorted now ...I went with Flis's suggestion and such a few hundred on a pre paid credit card.
