What should my accounts show?

I'm applying for carers allowance for DD and because I'm a childminder they've asked for a copy of my accounts for the previous tax year.

I only mind for a few hours a week and therefore my earnings have always been so low that I haven't bothered keeping weekly records. I just total up my income each year, take off expenses allowable for tax and put the resulting figure on my tax return. The resulting figure is well below the threshold for tax so I don't bother doing anything else in more detail.

Will a page showing my gross income, deductions itemised by type, eg receipted expenses, fuel, etc and then the final figure be enough?

I really don't want to have to go through and work out my income and deductions for every week of the year or anything like that.

Please can someone help me sort this out?

When I did my application I sent them a copy of my yearly accounts and let them work it out. only thing is they will then request accounts every quarter not yearly like tax credits.

Thanks for replying jjones.

Just to be clear was that just a summary page of your figures for the whole year?

I've done:

Total gross income figure xxxx

Deductions
Council tax xxxx
fuel bills xxxx
receipted xxxx
phone xxxx
etc
All added up to total deductions xxxx

Net income figure xxxx - xxxx = xxxx

Is that the kind of format they accepted?
