Getting a cheque from the bank in US $$

Does anyone know what documentation (if any) is required to get a bankers cheque made payable to someone else from my account in US$? I can't find my cheque book (as I am thinking the bank will ask for it?) but DH says I don't need it anyway, just my account number and they will give me a form to fill in. Is this right?

Your husband is right though would it not be easier to transfer the money via a BACS or CHAPS payment ? It is quicker and safer than a cheque, you will need the receiving account holders details and your bank will charge a fee.
Hope this helps

Thanks. The receiver will only take a cheque, no bacs! Crazy I know!
