Tax Credits whilst on Parental Leave

My colleague is wanting to take 4 weeks of "parental leave" next summer to take her 3DC to stay with their grandparents in France.

She is wondering if she will still get tax credits during this period? I think probably not as can't find this written anywhere....

The children will be aged about 2, 4 and 6 and her DH will stay here and g to work as normal - possibly take 1 weeks annual leave at the most.

Noone at our workplace has ever taken parental leave before and we don't have an HR person!

i believe you still would as its essentially unpaid holiday isnt it and still employed?? ring tax credits and ask?

She has tried to call but now is not the ideal time what with the renewal deadline. I will tell her to try again in a few weeks...

I did find on google that periods of unpaid leave up to 4 weeks are ok as long as its not a regular thing so she might be ok... or might need to make it just under 4 weeks.
