Really enjoyed this, probably repeating what I put said on the paper here but I thought it was surprisingly moving for a book that is built around linguistic tricksiness. I knew I was going to like it on the first page, which has definitions of two obscure words I knew and one which I didn't, but I really felt quite emotional when she discovers the sentence in her father's letter. I wondered also if the author wasn't having a dig at religion (it's on my brain with the Pope's visit this week) in the way that disputes over the written word can leap off the page and have very real and violent repercussions in the world.
