I liked this book - it was not a run of the mill Nazi Germany tale - but more concentrated on the smaller village in the middle of nowhere who were affected by the bleakness of living in that time - but it also shows hope and love and kindness and words and music in the midst of the bleakness.
I wasnt too perturbed by Death as a narrator - it seemed to add a twist to it, but then I found out that it was a young adult book but it didnt come across as that.
Anyway, not a book for the beach or a sunny day - great then for this lovely wet weather we are having at the moment!
