This was an enjoyable, intelligent, quick read . Sad and funny at the same time, it had stuff to say about society but without being preachy. Some things rang very true from my memories of the part-time jobs in retail I had when I was a student. It's a book I've been meaning to read for some time, so I'm glad that I've had the opportunity to read it now, thanks to Flossie . However, I didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE it, so I think some reviewers have been a bit overzealous in their praise of it. Shouldn't have listened to Jonathan Coe, maybe, since I don't particularly like his books!
