Who has read The Treatment novel by Mo Hayder?

I have just finished her first Birdman and loved it!! I live gritty thrillers, especially the gory and the brutal, however...

.ai paused me before I started the next in the Jack Caffrey series - The Treatment - because it is supposedly about peadaphillia and I always check for anything to do with child abuse before I read as I just can't read anything like that😢

I need someone to give me a run down of the Jack and Ethan thread of the story so I can skip this one and jump to the one after without missing what happens with that and anything else relevant in Jack's development.

If anyone can help with this, I would really appreciate it ❤️

I've read all the books and this was definitely very hard to cope with. I don't have children and think it would be even worse if I did. If you think it will distress you, give it a miss. Gore doesn't disturb me, but this did.

The Treatment is an absolutely brutal read. I read it just after it came out and the year before my DD was born and there is no way I could read it again since becoming a parent. Far, far darker than Birdman. I think I read a few more in the series but qas really put off by The Treatment.

Oh, and happy to DM about Ethan.

Thank you both! Yes I have a 4 year old and avoided anyhthing like that beforehand, let alone now.

I believe that Gone is the only other one in the series with child abuse, so Im going to read the others as I love gore when its not children.

Yes please DM about Ethan, ai has given me some info but a real person would be more trustworthy ha
