I am loving this book, Rosmerta!

I've read books by this author before, but I'd gone off her after reading a book that I found a bit dull a few years ago (something about a party, and a mother of grown-up children feeling disillusioned, all pretty much lost in the mists of time now).

But this book has fabulous characters, is an easy and unchallenging read, but at the same time is so wise, and has a lot to say about being an outsider, about belonging, about marriage, about loss, about tolerating other people's annoying habits even!

Still have about a third left to read, but thought I give you my take on it so far .

Glad you're enjoying it!

This was the first one of hers I've read and I did kind of enjoy it. I do like the characters and thought the family scenes, especially the parties were well written.

I'll wait until you've actually finished it to say anymore!

Finished a few days ago, and carried on enjoying it right to the end. It's cleverly written, in that you end up sympathising with all the charaters, regardless of their faults and failings. A bit like you do with family!

no no no Wisteria, it'd spoil it for the other ladies. Each month we're supposed to get a surprise in the post. We circulating 12 books between a group of 12 over a year.
