I read this book in 2003, around the time I got married (possibly on honeymoon?) and before the kids came along. I really enjoyed the story and the humour, but I can imagine it's a "totally love it" or "absolutely hate it" kind of a choice.

So I'll be interested to hear what you lot make of it in coming months.

I did persuade my DH and my mum to read it, and both liked it too, but they also share many of my tastes, so that means nothing!

Hi, Coco, I really liked it! Though it made me cry!

Am posting it on Monday, is that the right timing?

Pleased you enjoyed it dinny. It was difficult to decide which book to send out.

I think most are posting tomorrow, if you've not posted already that is!

I just finished it and I will never look at fans the same way again. Actually, I've always been a bit nervous of them and now know why. Lovely - a wonderful balance of gentle wit, humour and pure brutality. But I'm soft and could have done with a happy ending.

I know, it was heart-breaking the end, wasn't it? I felt it had to end like that though, or it would have been trite. Even though I would have been happier that way!

have to confess I struggled with this book and didn't finish it. I am one of those people who needs a character to empathise with and I just didn't take to anyone in this one!
