Residual pregnancy hormones, or am I pregnant?

Hello,

It's 9 weeks since my mc, is it possible my positive HPT is due to residual hormones?

I had a scan after the mc, my womb was back to normal, but I didn't have a blood test.

Advice would be appreciated (& much needed).

I've still managed to get a +ve test 3 mo after mc - but you do need to get proper confirmation either way. I recommend going to see your GP and explaining - and I hope that its good news for you.

If I were you I'd ask for a Beta HCG blood test, and then another two days later. If it's doubled, it could be a healthy pregancy.

If it stays still or rises slowly you may have retained products from your first miscarriage (although I'd think this unlikely this far after a MC).

I think 9 weeks would be a very long time to have residual HCG in your blood provided everything came away during your mc. When I miscarried at 12 weeks, it took about 35 days for the HCG to get back to zero. I think this is not unusual for a mc at that stage. If you miscarried at 9 weeks, then it should take less than 35 days.

If I were you, I would be feeling optomistic!

Loopy - after the mc I decided I couldn't ever go through another pg/mc again so didn't think any point in testing to get a neg.

I got a 'pregnant 1-2' on a cb digital this morning. Very shocked.

I have made a doctors appt for nxt week, hopefully I'll get proper confirmation then.

hello, I had my 2nd m/c in dec my bloods went down by the end of the month and bleeding stopped 23rd. We started ttc straight away and 5 weeks later i found out i was preg again!! I too wernt sure if it was a true reading because of the m/c the previous month. But when i had an early scan it showed i must of concieved about the 27th dec so was a true reading!!! Sadly we lost the baby between 8 - 9 weeks and are still ttc now with no luck so far
