any hope for the future?

I had my follow up appointment today and was told I had Placental abruption. The consultant said there was nothing they could have done and if it happens in my next pregnancy there will be nothing they can do then either. How am I supposed to be able to cope with another pregnancy if they can't offer me any real hope?

He kept asking me if I'd had a severe blow to my stomach or been in a car accident. I think I would have mentioned that! I had to hold back from saying "oh yeah forgot to mention I work in the circus and have cannon balls fired at my belly all day long, is that a problem?!" When I insisted that as an illustrator the most taxing thing I do tends to be changing the ink cartridge on my printer he looked down at the paperwork and said "well there's nothing more you could have done to prevent it then".
Has anyone out there had placental abruption and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? I need to hear something positive!

Well that sounds pretty positive. Good luck with the baby making
You may need to invest in a shewee for that long trip. When I was first pregnant my dad had a stroke in Chester so my hubby and I rushed there and I needed a pee when there was a sudden lack of services...it was only marginally less painful than labour was. I thought I was going to rip open and was in pain for days afterwards.
There will be no positive result this month for me. The bleeding is heavy now and the cramps are really strong. So even if I was pregnant (which I was certain I was) I'm certainly not now
The hubby has a few days to get himself fit and ready to go again!

Just a positive story: One of my best friends had placental abruption with twin boys at 26 wks and has gone on to have 3 more (all boys!!) with no more abruptions at all!

Thanks for that Karen. I had let myself fall into a pit of dispair. But I have to have faith it will happen when the time is right. I think every period will bring it all back and get me down. Hopefully mother nature won't trick me into believing I'm pregnant every single month though!
And you will get your BFP Lunaticfringe. But we both need to research that magic pill that will knock us out completely...it's the only way we'll both get through the wait.
Right the kitchen is calling me, I've eaten my body weight in chocolate in the last 24 hours...it's either that or I'll kill people. Need another brownie!
