Have any of yoou experienced cramps and bleeding only to go on to have a healthy baby?

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and started bleeding last night, bright red blood. It was light yesterday and most of today but this evening it has become heavier and accompanied by cramps. I suppose I'm just grasping at straws really, hoping I will still have a baby at the end of this but I think it's the beginning of a miscarriage. I have a scan tomorrow morning.

hi there, i dont have any advice or good news stories for you sorry. there are so many women on here who have been in your position and things have turned out fine.

obviously there are just has many ladies who have not been lucky. either way there is always someone on here who can give you support.

yes, I have.
I had it with all 3 of my pregnancies and all were fine.
I did have the exact same thing and had a miscarriage too though.

Had this with DD1 - bright red bleed followed by two days painful cramping followed by healthy baby (heartsink climb up stairs for internal scan after early preg unit scan showed no heartbeat tho).

All the very best for the scan, however things go.

I had bright red bleeding which lasted for an evening - but went on to have a healthy baby. There was a lot of fresh blood and it came in a gush - but stopped later that evening and I did not have any more after that. I was about 10 weeks at that stage. EPU showed a heartbeat when I went for a scan - they did not really explain why I had bled.

This was very different from the time before when I had a missed miscarriage - that time I started with a brownish stain that got heavier as the day went on - but the discharge was brown - like the end of a period rather than bright red. That time there was no heartbeat and they explained that the baby had stopped developing. I had no cramps so had an operation after that.

My friend had a miscarriage during her 1st pregnancy and when she got pregnant again a few months later she started to bleed. She thought it was happening all over again and to her amazement, baby was fine! Her DS is now 2. Hope the same will happen to you. Big hugs

Sam100 - I too have very heavy bright red gushing - mine was diagnosed as Organised membrane seperation which meant there were pockets of blood that had to come out but eventually were absorbed and no consquences later on - sounds similar possibly?

Thanks for your replies everyone I'm passing clots now and having cramps every couple of minutes so it doesn't look good really. Thisisyesterday, how worrying for you to have had this with each of your pregnancies. You are very brave. Funnily enough, right from the start I never felt good about this pregnancy, like my instinct was telling me something, unlike my 1st when I felt so sure. Only time will tell. Fingers crossed.

Hello everyone thankyou for your kindness. I went for a scan yesterday which showed that the baby had died at 5+6 (should have been 9) and that it was near my cervix, so on its way out.

Very sad and emotionally draining day. The doctor wanted to take some swabs and do some scraping but I said no, I just couldn't bare the thought of anybody touching me down there when I was so sore or the thought of my baby being scraped out.

I said I wanted to pass it naturally so they have boked me in for another scan in a fortnight to make sure everything has cleared. I never realised just how sad miscarriages were.

It's real grief and it doesn't matter that the pregnancy wasn't even classed as a baby, it was still my baby for whom I had hopes and dreams. The staff at the hospital were so kind and sympathetic and they said it had been an awful morning, no good news for any of their patients.

The cramps have stopped now but I'm still bleeding. I don't think I have passed my baby yet and I'm a bit concerned as my tempreture has raised slightly from yesterday, it was 36.7 and now it's 37.2. Does anyone know what this means? Could I have an infection or is this within the realms of normal?

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine what you are going through, and just hope you have lots of loving support from close friends and family.

I just wanted to let you know that a normal temperature range (for an adult) is 36.5 to 37.2, so you are still ok. (Am a nurse) However, do follow the advice from the hospital with regards to rest, and what to look out for, and if you do have any concerns with regards to your temperature, or anything else, do call them - that's what they are there for and I'm sure they will be more than helpful, won't think anything silly, or anything. As you said, they were all kind and sympathetic, so do call.
