Link between extreme thirst/dry mouth in early pregnancy and miscarriage?

I had a mc recently at around 11 weeks. But this pg was very different to previous ones in that for the first few weeks I was extremely thirsty and had a really dry mouth. These symptoms disappeared at around the time the baby stopped developing, and then returned with avengeance the day before I miscarried.

I just wondered whether anyone else had this and then miscarried? I don't think it was pg diabetes as this was the only symptom I had and was only 5 or so weeks pg.

Yes I had a mc at 8 weeks and was extremely thirsty the whole time and it stopped after i miscarried. gp did urine test but no diabetes. never even considered that it could be a symptom of something.

thanks for replying. It was extremely odd for me as it was unlike any of my other pregnancies. i didn't realise something was wrong at the time though.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I have had five pregnancies but only one was successful. I was very thirsty with that pregnancy but didn't have diabetes. For me thirst was a good sign.

I had a MMC in 2008 at 13 weeks (the baby had died at 8w) I too had extreme thirst.

I have had 5 pregnancies 3 of them miscarrieges but the only one i had the thirst with was with the MMC.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have had this with both of my chem preg. Really thirsty from when AF is due, drinking loads, but then as soon as I stopped being thirsty I started to bleed.

Anyone else, or any theories?

I have been pregnant 5 times (sadly, each time unsuccessfully) and have been very thirsty each time. I think being thirsty is a fairly typical pregnancy symptom. It was only when the thirst died down that I started to worry about/suspect miscarriage. Pregnancy symptoms still come and go for a couple of weeks after a miscarriage whilst your hormones settle, which is probably why your thirst came back.

I have to agree with Kittens. Was really unbearably thirsty in the first trimester with my first pregnancy which produced DD. Have had 2 subsequent pgs, no thirst with either and the latest ended in miscarriage at 18 weeks. Doubt it's related really.
