My period is/was a bit late I realised yesterday, so I did a test last night and there was the faintest line (I had a full bladder hadnt been all day to the loo!). I then did two more tests shortly after with my next pee but they were definately negative.

Another negative one this am. And I have now started to bleed. Do you think I may have been early pregnant although why did one out of three tests done at roughly the same time / same brand only show a faint line..... curious really.

Maybe a false +?

Hi

This happened to a friend of mine who was ttc. She was pregnant but it was a chemical pregnancy in that it was just enough hormone to register on a test but not enough to continue a pregnancy. She went to the doctors and got an immediate blood test to measure the amount of HCG and was told to have a repeat blood test a week later. The second blood test showed a drop to almost no HCG and she was told she had a very early miscarriage which she would not have been aware of if she hadn't taken a test as she was only a few days late and she would have mistaken the bleeding for her usual period.

I'm not an expert but I would contact your doctor and ask for a blood test to confirm your HCG levels as you can have false negative results but as far as I know you cannot have a false positive result. A line, however faint is still a positive.

You may have got a positive result with your concentrated pee of the day as the HCG would have been less dilute - when I was positive and very early pregnant I would get a positive with more concentrated pee and a negative from more dilute pee. I think that is why testing kits always ask for your first pee of the day.

I hope that everything goes ok for you x. And my friend? She fell pregnant the next cycle and is expecting in May.

Good luck xx
