Had d and c today and have been told to wear the white knee length surgical stockings for 24 hours a day[except showers]for 2 weeks, poss should be grateful not to get blood clots but 2 WEEKS. Have others had the same advice and how to explain to 10 year old daughter who is not aware of what's happened

never had this advice and have had the procedure 3 times unfortunately! I think the most I had to do was wear them during the procedure. I hope you are feeling ok.

I'm ok just really glad it's over.

I only wore them that day
Are you at higher than normal risk of clots?

Not that I'm aware, the Dr just said it's because you have your legs up during surgery. Might phone ward today to ask again,I think I was only told because I asked the Dr as an after thought when being discharged,if I had not done so I don,t think it would have been mentioned.
