19 weeks pregnant, but baby died at 15 weeks.

Hi all,
Hope someone can help. I had a bleed this afternoon, and got sent to hospital by midwife. They did a scan and said baby had died about 4 weeks ago.
I had a scan at 12 weeks and 4 days and baby was ok then. At my 16 week midwife app, she recorded the heartbeat as 150bpm.
I have to go back on Monday I think they said to take some tablets, then back a couple of days later to have my baby.
I am not sure what to think, the baby looked alot smaller today then it did on the 12 week scan, and I thought I had felt very small movements in the last few weeks, although not for a few days.
Should I get them to do another scan before having any tablets, even tho I know baby is gone, as mad as it sounds I just want to check.
Also does anyone know what I should expect if I start losing the baby at home. Forgot to say the bleeding has almost stopped, had no clots or pain.

Oh love, how are you dealing with it? You sound incredibly level-headed.

I would imagine that they will do another scan when you go back, but if it doesn't appear that they are going to, ask.

So sorry to hear you are going through this. It's not mad to ask for another scan - I'm sure they will completely understand in the circumstances. Have you got someone to go with you on Monday?

I miscarried last week at 10 weeks (baby had died at 7 weeks) at home. On a practical level, it would be sensible to have sanitary towels ready at home in case you need them.

I found the Miscarriage Association website useful. They have a leaflet on miscarriage after 14 weeks - don't know if that would help.

I lost my baby at 5 weeks about 4 weeks ago ... had normal 12 week scan, heart beat day before...there was lots and lots of blood - just to forwarn you.

they asked me if they wanted me to test the placenta to see if they could find out the reason - I didn't want to know, can't change the past etc.

I actually passed the baby at home - I didn't look but TBH it was so tiny - I felt I had passed something but it wasn't too awful.

Hi I lost my baby yesterday only at 8 weeks but am feeling terrible. I luckily (not sure that is the word) started bleeding heavily within hours of my scan and had finished by last night. had to have another scan this afternoon to make sure it is all gone. i am thinking of you at 15 weeks as that is so much further along. i already have 2 children so am lucky but my husband doesn't want more so this was a once only chance.

sorry meant to say at my hosp they can't do enough for me i'm sure that they will let you have another scan. in fact they wouldn't do anything for me without first checking that there definitely wasn't a baby still in there.

Well the bleeding has stopped just like it never happened.
I will ask for another scan when I go back on Monday, in my head I know baby has gone, but my heart is saying what if, just need to see it again myself.
They talked about post mortum, and sending bits of baby's skin for testing today, but me and dp have decided we want baby left alone, nothing is going to bring it back.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I have just been through a similar situation.
Had a scan at 17 weeks and there was no heartbeat and the baby was smaller than expected.
I had to go back last Wed for initial tablets, but I said that I wanted another scan first just to make sure. I think you always have some hope in your heart. The staff were great and gave me another scan. Although it confirmed the worst, I was glad to see my baby again.
I was back in yesterday for the miscarriage and am now home trying to take it easy.
I really feel for you and hope that everything goes as well as it can.
I would say take in nice toiletries for showering and some magazines or a book, because there might be a bit of waiting.
