Should you have scan after Natural Miscarriage? And how long did you bleed/ have pain for?

I finally had my miscarriage on Easter Sunday - after 9 days of brown blood spotting - which was gradually getting heavier.

After Sunday I had lots of bright red blood - and i still am having that now - but only a small amount of bright red blood. However I am still getting pains (not exactly cramps - more odd twinges... sore feelings)

So is now exactly 2 weeks since spotting started and 4 days after MC actually happened...

Should I be going for a scan to check everything gone? How long did the pain/ bleeding go on for others?

For info - I would have been 10 weeks PG when MC happened - but baby stopped growing at 6 1/2 weeks. in case that relevant.

Thanks all xx

Hiya, so sorry for your loss
My mc was medically managed so I passed the sac in hospital just a couple of hours after being given pessaries to induce the mc.
I then bled for 2 weeks afterwards, just slightly heavier and darker than normal af. I had very bad cramping the day I passed the sac and then mild pains the rest of the time I was bleeding.

I couldn't say if the tissue you passed is the sac; mine very obviously was but I know they don't always look the same. I would suggest you still go to your scan if you have one scheduled. The doctors will tell you whether your mc is complete or incomplete and will be able to give you the best advice. Good luck

Hi ally99 - really sorry to hear about you loss

I had a natural MC and for me I passed two big lumps of tissue - one was the sac - and the second was what I assume might have been womb lining? I then bled for a week. But I spoke to Dr and he said not to come for scan unless I have alot of pain or bleeding continues and is heavy for a long time.

I had pains for the week after the MC too.

You might as well go for scan just to check - I didn't but as you have one anyway it might put your mind at rest. x

Hi,
I was around 10 weeks PG and last saturday I had brownish discharge. I went to A&E and was told to go to EPU. By Sunday night the bleeding got heavier. On Monday I had my first scan and they could not find the heartbeat. On Monday night the cramps were awful and at 9pm a big clot came out, and the pain stopped- I think I MC.
I would like to know if I should wait for the bleeding to stop bf I have another scan, to check that everything is ok.
Many thanks.xxx
