Going to EPAU tomorrow, what to expect?

Hi, I'm 10 weeks pregnant and have light bleeding for 2 days. Have got an appointment at the early pregnancy unit tomorrow afternoon and don't knwo what to expect.
Will I get a scan to know for sure what's happening?
My last pregnancy ended in miscarriage so could really do with knowing what's happening.

I should think you would get a scan.
I did whenever I went to the EPU.

yeah, I had a scan when I went to the epu. No questions asked, it was scan first then we can discuss what's going on. Good luck, I hope it all goes well.

Thanks, am praying all will be well but worried it might be bad news. Hormones all over the place which doesn't help either.

Hi. You should get a scan. I was in a similar situation to you a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately the news wasn't good. What I hadn't prepared myself for were the decisions to be made after the scan. I went alone and really needed someone there to talk things through. Make sure you've got someone just in case. I really hope it's ok for you.

yes they will more than likely do scan and perhaps test your hormone levels. I had several miscarriages, but also had bleeding at this stage of pg with all of my three dc. It is not necessarily bad news, just a huge worry whatever happens. Try to get a good rest, and fingers x'd for you - good luck

You'll get a scan, probably an external one, possibly followed by internal if they can't see enough.

You def need someone with you, and be prepared for a long wait - they can be horrendous.

I had 2 scans for bleeding at 9 and 10 weeks with my first pg at the EPU and went straight in, no problems. My son is now 5. Have had not such successful scans with following pg's but just to say good luck, take someone with you and be strong. sx

Hope all was OK. When I went I had an internal scan at one hosp, and an external scan at another. At one hosp they only saw a certain number of people per day, so you had to get there early to get in 'the queue'. Really hope all went well for you x

Sadly it was bad news. Baby hadn't grown enough and no heartbeat.

I now have to decide whether to let nature take its course, as and when it happens or whether to have and EPRC or tablets to induce it. Think I will post and ask for advice.

scarlotti, I'm so sorry to hear your news. As I said, I was in the same situation as you a couple of weeks ago. My first thought was to let nature take its course and have the least intervention possible. I phoned my mum, who once had a miscarriage and she advised me to have the Erpc. Her advice was to get it out as soon as possible so that I wasn't still having symptoms and torturing myself with wondering whether it was still alive or not. I wasn't sure about the general anaesthetic, but the local option really didn't appeal - lots of sound effects and sensations.

I did have the erpc in the end and was booked in for the next day. I was so thankful that I did have it. From what I've learned on here, there's much less pain, discomfort and bleeding and your symptoms stop much more quickly. I was actually on a bit of a high afterwards, so thankful I wasn't feeling sick any more and could comfort myself with chocolate and rose wine!
