What is a chemical pregnancy?

What is a "blighted ovum"?

If I do concieve what can I request re monitoring?

And if it happens again what can I request afterwards in the way of investigations?

Already have dd (2) naive silly old me thought I wouldn't mc. Just want to be prepared with all the info in case there's a next time.

A Chemical Pregnany is where the egg fertilises and starts to secrete HCG but fails to implant properly and the pregnancy fails in the very early stages and the woman carries on in her normal ( or slightly delayed ) monthly cycle.

A Blighted Ovum is where the egg fertilises and implants but due to a genetic fault the embryo never grows, its just the sack which secretes the normal pregnancy hormones and grows as normal untill it fails or is discovered on a scan.

They are both really common and just cruel flukes of nature, its a shame you have had to suffer both

Its unlikely they will offer you any tests at this stage but it seems as if you have just had a fun of bad luck and it's unlikely to be a actualy problem, if you know what i mean.

You may be able to request an early scan next time, I have had 3 misscarriages and have always managed to get a scan around 7 weeks, Some EPUs can be shits about giving out scans though so you may have to pay for one privaty, i did this time and it was well worth it.

If you have one Daughter already i am sure you will be fine, you have my sympathy though, miscarriages are horrible
