methotrxate how long after taking can you drink or have sex

hope this dont sound heartless but i am away this weekend i am not a drinker but i go to this show once a year and like a glass or two of wine a can or two of beer but the paper work i was given after the jab says not alchol or sex so how long is that for ?? had 2nd jab on friday no bleeding or pain as yet,sex part well i feel normal iukwim lol agin no rush but paper work not clear ,any advice please aj xx

The advice the ectopic pregnancy trust give out is no alcohol or sex until your HCG levels return to non-pregnant levels (i.e. until the hospital gives you the all-clear).

The reason for this is that until then you might still be pregnant and you might need another shot or other treatment. If you are still pregnant, there is a chance that your tube could rupture if you have sex and of course you are not allowed to drink if you are taking methotrexate.

The reason for the prohibition on alcohol is that methotrexate can temporarily impact on your liver function and alcohol can make this worse.

Your levels should be well down within a few weeks, so it shouldn't be too long to wait.

Can anyone help me with this, I had ectopic pregnancy and doc treated me with Methotrexate injection on 2nd of March 2010 my hcg count is less then 5 now and now my Husband's birthday is on 9th of April 2010 can i have a beer.

Doctor have told me that my ectopic is ended so can i have a 2 or 3 glass of beers as i just want to have fun on my husband's birthday.

Can anyone help me with this, I had ectopic pregnancy and doc treated me with Methotrexate injection on 2nd of March 2010 my hcg count is less then 5 now i was bleeding for around 12 days till 19 march and then the bleeding stopped completley. Again yesterday bleeding started looks like i go my periods. Is this normal or should i check with doctor.

It probably is your period. Mine arrived yesterday and my HCG levels were 11 last week. I think once they hit 0 it's normal for your period to turn up. If it gets really heavy or painful check with your doctor.

Can anyone help me with this, I had a corual ectopic pregnancy and doc treated me with Methotrexateinjection 80mg twice. The last time i had it was sunday 11th nov this had no effect on the pregnancy and it continued to grow causing it to rupture on 18th Nov i had surgery to remove it. I am due to go home today and the doctor has said no alcohol for 6-12 months. This seems like a long time has any one every experience anything like this? I was hoping to have a little alcohol over Christmas/new Year but obviously my health will come first. Thanks for any advice.
