Six weeks postpartum with RPOC (retained products of conception) and no follow-up advice

6 weeks postpartum with a 6cm RPOC mass – sent home with no follow up and feeling lost. Has anyone had similar?

I'm nearly six weeks postpartum and I've got confirmed RPOC (retained products of conception). I had to push for a scan in the first place because I was having heavy bleeding, which the midwife originally dismissed as normal.
The doctor gave me antibiotics at the hospital and told me to wait and see if it clears by itself, but the mass is six centimeters, which is quite big. I asked what would happen once i finish antibiotics and they just said to keep an eye out for red flag signs like heavy bleeding and infection, but there was nothing else scheduled. No follow-up scan or anything.

I feel completely in the dark and on edge as I've read what can happen if RPOC is left untreated. I don't really know when I can have sex again or do normal things. I don't really know anything, and I'm not sure where to go because I felt like the hospital was quite dismissive. Has anyone else had a similar experience with RPOC or got any advice? Thanks.

Slightly different because mine was from TFMR, but I also had a RPOC. I was bleeding for 2mths which I know now isn't normal at all. This was my 1st pregnancy, I wasn't on mumsnet then and have recently moved abroad, so had no one to ask what was normal. My bleeding stopped for a few days, then the heaviest period I've ever had started and out if came- mine was about 4cm!

I did alot of reading which said that the uterus will try to expel it, even if it takes months! In terms of sex, I was told no intercourse, even with condom, until the bleeding has completely stopped for at least 48hrs. Also no tampons or jacuzzis due to the risk of infection.

I would assume if yours doesn't come out, they might give you medical management. Personally, I'd wait for it to pass, unless you are getting an infection/pain etc. Hopefully someone who has had this post partum can advise though.
