Bleeding 2 weeks after 2nd round of medical management

I found out I had miscarried at the end of July but due to a booked holiday this wasn’t confirmed by EPAU until 2 weeks later. At that point I opted for medical management. 2 weeks later I was still bleeding and went in for a rescan and there was some retained products so I had a second round of medical management.

This was 2 weeks ago and I’m still bleeding today, albeit lightly now (but still enough to need a pad).

I feel like I’ve been having a miscarriage for 2 months. I’m tired and drained and I just want to get back to normal. I’ve been bleeding for 4 weeks now. Is this normal?

So sorry you're going through this. I had a similar experience - MMC of one twin at the start of July, then found I'd lost the other in mid July. I had 3 rounds of medical management and finally had surgery (MVA) last month as I still had retained products. It was so frustrating and exhausting.

Have you had a negative pregnancy test yet? It would be worth contacting EPU to make sure there aren't still any retained products.

Hi

Im sorry you are going through this.

I bled for 3 weeks after taking the medical management, they confirmed retained products, I had a second dose which didn’t do anything (light bleeding continued), so after 4 weeks I had an MVA.

I agree with PP, have you taken another test?

After the MVA my tests started to fade but I did have another 4 weeks of light bleeding (I suspect I still had retained products but EPU wouldn’t scan me at 2 weeks post surgery and I was on holiday at 3 weeks and 4 weeks). Had a slightly heavier bleed then it finally stopped. Negative test and EPU scanned and all clear.

I feel you, it was horrendous with the bleeding going on for so long (8 weeks). You can’t move on. I don’t think it’s usual but I was told (unhelpfully) some people just bleed for longer than others.

I would take a test and phone EPU and ask them to scan you again.

EPU are going to scan me again on Tuesday as I’ve had (TMI) 2-3cm clots again today. My test was negative though so I’m not sure what is going on.
