Immune treatment ttc Dr Shehata

Hi all
I've been diagnosed with immune issues with Dr Shehata, and he's prescribed taking steroids and intralipids.
I'm so scared of this! An nhs doctor told me the nhs don't presribe that treatment because affecting your immune system in that way can be really dangerous (the exact example she used was if you get covid, your much more likely to end up in hospital on a respirator).and its not even proven to help. I've also read about the side effects of steroids which can be terrible, and I'll be taking them 10 days per month until I get pregnant, which could take ages. The hfea website classifies them as red, which means unsafe and unproven.

We have had one chemical pregnancy and one mmc at 10 weeks. I'm 40, and of course my biggest fear is my age.

I don't really know what I'm asking for here, just need to say into the ether how scared I am. Did anyone else have these fears? Did anyone decide not to follow Shehatas treatment plan? Or positive stories of this protocol with him ? Both are welcome and thanks xx

@DMBZ1985 Hi there, just wanted to add some reassurance as a fellow CRP clinic patient and also agree with you 100% that the way the protocol is described is very scary. I saw him in March following two missed miscarriages, had all the tests with pretty much every result coming back as either high or very high. I have since been on a cocktail of hydroxychloriquine, Prednisolone, intralipids and Humira jabs to bring down my immune response. I was terrified of it all, the hair loss, the eye sight issues, the sleeplessness and I'm glad to say that with the exception of a racing heart on the pred, I've had no side effects. Now that's not to say it's the same for everyone, just that it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. If you take a look in the conception board, there's a group of us who are all going through it together- there have been a lot of success stories and many of us are over 40. There are also some great podcasts which helped me to decide to go ahead- just search on 'Shehata'. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate.

I wound not be doing this but that is just me. What about ivf?

Thanks so much for your replies! Great to see other chat about this, and I'm being recommended this protocol with ivf. To be honest, we are going to get a second opinion from another doctor and then decide what to do. If I do ivf straight away with shehata, it means one round of all those drugs, which is more appealing to me than potentially taking then every month until we potentially conceive with superovulation.. overall I'm feeling calmer about it
