Why do I still have HCG in my system after my miscarriage 7 weeks ago?

I had a medical miscarriage on 21st June, bled heavily for 2 days, and bleeding/spotting stopped after 2 weeks. I had a transvaginal scan on 4th July and the docs said I had a complete miscarriage and my uterus is empty and that I should get a negative pregnancy test in the next two weeks. I took a test after 2 weeks as they told me and result is shown below (first image). A very very faint line.

On July 20th I started bleeding again so I thought it was my period. But the bleeding was extremely light. It came and went for a week and up till this day I am still spotting!

I just took another pregnancy test and there is still a faint line (second image)! Does that mean I still have HCG in my system??? I’m so worried.

Is it just me or the second test result looks darker than the first?

I think you need to speak to your GP. It definitely looks darker than the first.

I had a ectopic pregnancy 4 weeks ago and surgery to remove..4 weeks later my hgc is still 600 apparently it can take up to 3 months to come down completely. I would contact the epu to see if they can help big hugs and sorry for your loss xx

I had this with an early miscarriage too. One person looked at my scan and said everything was gone but a second person looked at it a week later and said it showed a small amount had been retained!

If you haven't already, then give early pregnancy a ring to see what they think. I eventually had a few weeks of blood tests to ensure that my hcg was coming down.

Could it be a new pregnancy? I miscarried last March and had a positive test 5 weeks later and a scan showed a new pregnancy. He is now 7 months old 😊
