Fetal pole seen, no heartbeat - anyone had a good outcome?

Hi all,

I should be 10+ weeks based on my LMP (27 April, 31–32 day cycle), but my scans aren’t matching up.

At a private scan last week, they saw a gestational sac + yolk sac, but no fetal pole.

Today (5 days later), at my NHS scan, they saw a fetal pole measuring 2.7mm (5+ weeks) but still no heartbeat. They’ve asked me to come back in 1 week to confirm.

I’ve had no bleeding, and my pregnancy symptoms have actually increased - nausea, fatigue, headaches, breast tenderness, loose-ish bowels, and clear discharge.

Has anyone had a similar experience with slow early growth or late heartbeat? Trying to stay realistic but not lose hope 💛

I’m sorry you are going through this. Are you sure of when you ovulated? On my 1st pregnancy I measured 2 weeks behind and it ended in a loss. When I was on here at the time people did have outcomes where they were measuring a little behind and all was fine but the majority of the stories were ending in loss.

OK, is it possible that you are actually only 6 weeks rather than 10?

DS1 had no hb at 6+a couple of days. Rescanned at 8weeks, and hb present. He's just sat his GCSEs. DS2 had a hb at 6+0.

I've not heard about no hb at 10 weeks being successful. But if you were closer to 6 weeks, it's possible.

Thank you for responding! Tbh I’m not exactly sure when I ovulated but it was most likely just out of the window or end of it. I technically should be 11 weeks, if we’re calculating from my last period. I’m telling myself that I implanted late, but I suspect impending miscarriage 😥

i appreciate your response! I’ve been telling myself that maybe I just implanted quite late in the cycle and that’s why foetus is measuring 5+ weeks. It just doesn’t add up with my dates. I have another NHS scan on Wednesday, so unless I miscarry before, I hoping that there’ll be some good news or closure at least 😖

When did you first test positive? I had 2 miscarriages and had weeks prior to confirmation of hospital back and forth with suggestion that I could have ovulated later than i thought. Each time I had tested positive when it would be “impossible’ to have done based on how far along I would have been, so that gave me the answer. If you have been testing positive for multiple weeks it looks unlikely you could be only 6 weeks along x
