How soon did you get your period after miscarriage?

I had a medical miscarriage on the 21st June. Had a scan two weeks ago to check everything was gone and docs confirmed my uterus was completely empty.

I took a pregnancy test this morning and there was still a very faint line (see image).
And then, after an hour I started bleeding (guessing this is my period) as I haven’t bled since my miscarriage 4 weeks ago.

Does that mean I ovulated a few weeks ago whilst I was going through my miscarriage?

Sorry for what you've been through, OP.

I don't know the answer, but this is what AI says:

Following a medical miscarriage, it's possible for ovulation to occur before your first period, and it can happen as early as two weeks afterward if hormone levels drop quickly enough. In your case:
🩸 Bleeding Today

  • If it's heavier than spotting and resembles your normal menstrual flow, it’s likely your first true post-miscarriage period.
  • This would suggest you probably ovulated roughly two weeks ago — even if it happened while hCG was still detectable in your system.
🔬 Faint Positive Pregnancy Test
  • It may simply be lingering hCG from the miscarriage. That hormone can take several weeks to drop below test-detectable levels.
  • Since your scan confirmed your uterus was empty, a faint line likely doesn't indicate a new pregnancy but residual hormone.
🧠 What Could Be Happening
  • You might've ovulated around the beginning of July, depending on how quickly your hormones normalized.
  • Ovulation while hCG is still present is rare but not impossible — your body isn't always textbook, especially in recovery mode.
If your bleeding continues like a normal period and the pregnancy tests start showing completely negative in the coming days, then your cycle may be rebalancing. If anything feels off or you’re unsure, it’s always okay to check back in with your doctor for reassurance.

My 1st 2nd 3rd and 5th ones I got my period back more or less straight away. My 4th one it took around 12 weeks till my period came back

With my first miscarriage I got my period after 4 weeks, with my second miscarriage I fell pregnant without a period, based on my due date I conceived 3-4 weeks after my miscarriage so my period would have been 5-6 weeks after my miscarriage.
With my first loss I was having my HCG monitored and I think around the point of ovulation it was around 100, with my second loss I had a negative pregnancy test after 3 weeks which was a few days before my prediction ovulation date.
