HCG increasing after chemical pregnancy?

Hi all - the short story, I believe I had a chemical pregnancy but my HCG is increasing 😩

The story: I had some spotting from around 11dpo, which led me to test as well as very strong pregnancy symptoms. Between the period of 27-30/6 (11-14dpo), I was testing positive, it was gradually increasing in strength each day. On 30/6, the brown spotting turned into a more full-on period with "tissue", so I assumed it was a chemical pregnancy, so did my GP.

The "period" stopped on 7/7, but between 8-11/7, I had extensive bleeding with clots, it was pure blood no "tissue" - the GP decided to send me to EPU this past Friday to check my levels to ensure that the HCG was going down. My HCG was 45, and my progesterone was 2, so they confirmed that it was a miscarriage. However, I've just heard back from the follow-up blood test from today, and the HCG is now at 59. They've asked me to come in for an ultrasound, but obviously, I am now super confused - what's going on? 🤔

As I am roughly on CD 14-15 today, and I decided to test LH over the weekend and according to these I was at 0.95/1 yesterday so I assumed I was ovulating and back to normal, but now I don't know what's going on.

Help!

This happened to me twice. Once it was retained tissue, the other time it was ectopic. Hopefully you can get scanned soon to see what the cause is.

Unfortunately, it ended up being an ectopic :(
