Hi!

Right . I am gong crazy. Had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and 4 days. Had a d&c on the 13th of June. I have been checking hcg with pregnancy strips.
We has sex a few times on the 3rd week.
Took a test today and it seems a little darker than the one I took on the 5th of Jultly!!

Is a new pregnancy possible??
Photos attached
The pregnancy strip was on the 5th and the pregnancy test was today on the 9th

Hello, I am sorry for your loss. It is possible that it is a new pregnancy but also it is possible that this is just a residue of pregnancy hormones. They can stay in your system for up to 6 weeks after a loss. I’d test again in another week. Good luck.

Mamaofthreegirls · 09/07/2025 08:09

Thank you! I have been testing daily and they were all getting lighter. However today's seems a little darker. Didn't realise I could get pregnant this early after a miscarriage . But also don't want to get my hopes up

Sorry for your loss.

I think you’ll need to ask your GP for a blood test two days apart to check for HCG rise.

Mamaofthreegirls · 09/07/2025 12:29

Thank you ! Definitely.
I think I will test again in a few days. If it gets darker I will book an appointment. Stressing but also don't want to be too hopeful

My pregnancy tests were a bit up and down before they were completely blank about a month after my d&c, so it could be that.

Having said that, I think the progression in those clear blue tests look actually like they are properly getting darker.

Have you done any more tests since Wednesday?

Mamaofthreegirls · 14/07/2025 15:21

Yes I have still been testing. They have been up down for sure. These are some of the last few tests I did .

I also went today a did a blood test which came that my hcg are 14.37.
Still doesn't say anything.
I have booked to go doctors on Wednesday.
Also last night I had a really weird stomach and ending up vomiting.

I'm sorry for your loss OP. I'm glad you've had a blood test done. Did you ever get a negative pregnancy test after the loss?

Another possibly could be a retained product. I had this. No fever, no unusual discharge but on and off bleeding which I assumed was my cycle settling. Then 3mths, yes three months, later, it came out. I wasn't advised to do any pregnancy tests after my lost and it was my first pregnancy, so didn't know I should have been. It likely would have shown as positive though.

Wishing you all the best.

Mamaofthreegirls · 14/07/2025 16:13

@JDM625
No I still haven't got a negative! I never thought of that since I had a d&c done.
I have had no bleeding or spotting.
My spotting lasted 2 weeks on and off after the d&c but it was very little

Stressing for my doctors appointment tomorrow.

if i am pregnant will the doctor be able to see anything this early??
also thinking of going for another blood test to see if my hcg levels have doubled

How stressful. Sorry you’re in this position. I would advise to remain cautious as it took my tests ages to turn negative after a loss. I was gutted as I really wanted to go again asap.

IF it was a new pregnancy how many weeks would it make you? Could you get a private early scan at 6 weeks ish?

AwkwardPaws27 · 15/07/2025 14:56

I conceived again about 2 weeks after a miscarriage (although I didn't have a D&C, I had medication to help it along). The EPAU asked me to come for a scan 2 weeks after the positive test (when we guessed I may be around 6 weeks).
There was a heartbeat and as I'd had several miscarriages I was prescribed progesterone and aspirin. DS is 3 now.

I really hope this works out for you x

Hopeandfaith1990 · 15/07/2025 15:07

I’ve had lots of miscarriages and 3 d&cs , each time it’s taken 5-6 weeks to get completely negative. If you haven’t tested out your remaining HCG post d&c it’s most likely the old one. I’m so sorry for your loss and hope you’re ok xx

@TouchOfSilverShampoo

Very stressful! The only reasonni think it might be a new pregnancy is because we have not been careful.
I am going for a scan tomorrow. Here were I am we have our own private doctor so getting a scan is easy. IF I am I would probably be 3-4 weeks

I guess you could do two HCG blood tests two days apart to see if it’s increasing - a scan would be too early now to see much wouldn’t it. It’s such a hard time, I really empathatise. I’m glad you have your girls to help you. It could be a new pregnancy - it’s just so early if so it’ll be hard to know either way!! Xxx

@Hopeandfaith1990
I think will go again for blood work tomorrow and hope for the best. And then just wait to see what doctor says.
Fingers crossed. Hoping for a rainbow baby soon.
The hardest part wasn't just the miscarriage but seeing how much my girlies really wanted another sibling if know what I mean
