How much did you bleed after surgical management of miscarriage?

Hello, hoping others might be able to share their experience if they have been through this.

I had a missed miscarriage last week at 10 weeks (baby measuring just over 8 weeks). I had a surgically managed miscarriage on Friday and the surgeon (a consultant) said it had gone well without complications. He also said he had never done this procedure and had any retained products.

I bleed lightly over the weekend and thought it was tapering off, but yesterday evening (Monday) after a yoga class, I had a medium sized clot and this morning I had a lot of clots. Enough to almost fill the palm of my hand. Is this normal? I'm wondering if I should call the EPU to check.

Also if anyone has any encouraging stories of healthy pregnancies after going through this - I would love to hear them as I'm looking for some hope. This is my second miscarriage this year and I'm already 40, so fear we are running out of time to give my DD a sibling. Feel very blessed we have her. She is nearly two and a half. My husband is nearly 46 and already worries about being an older dad. (I'm aware there are much older dads out there, but this is how he feels and I can't reassure him otherwise.) I don't think he wants to keep trying after this year. The miscarriages have also taken a big emotional toll on him. Thank you for reading.

For me I stopped bleeding and couple of days after D&C and then bled again maybe like a week later. But I didn’t really have clots maybe one or two small ones and that was with going back exercising full time.

We were told to wait a month before TTC again and we then got pregnant 1st time.

I would call just to check.

After my miscarriage (which wasn’t surgically managed), bleeding picking up again after it had nearly stopped was a sign of an infection, and I needed antibiotics.
It’s probably fine, but it’s worth calling to see what they say.

I am sorry for your loss.
I had a similar experienc but I bled very little, we went Private so I spend the night in hospital and by the time I left I was bleeding like a very light period and no bleeding at all by 2 days later.
I actually got pg a week afterwards which was quite a shock and while there were no physical issues it was very hard psychologically

I would call the EPAU, I bled for 4 weeks when it shouldn't really be longer than 2 and it should taper off. Mine would taper off and get heavy again and taper off and get heavy again. I kept thinking it would taper off and then suddenly it had been 4 weeks. It was retained tissue. The whole thing dragged my MC to take 8 weeks for it finalise.

Like you, it was time I didn't feel I didn't have. I wish I had called when it hadn't subsided by 2 weeks and been pushier about going back in to check.

I am sorry for your losses. I am a similar age and in a similar position. ❤️

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who read and replied. @Chocolateaddict999 @Hoppinggreen @ShesTheAlbatross I did call the EPU and they said to call back if I was still passing clots by the weekend. I actually haven't passed any more since last Tuesday morning and have just had very light bleeding. If it continues after two weeks, I will call them again. Thank you for the kind words @RooneyRu I'm sorry you are in a similar position and I very much hope we will both have a healthy viable pregnancy soon. Although I must say I don't feel in a rush right now. I was very sick with the last one and just want to feel comfortable in my body again. Hopefully I will feel ready in a couple of months but right now I'm physically, mentally and emotionally far from it.
