Cytogenetic testing - has anyone done this and got a successful result?

Today, I had the horrible task of sending off my foetal tissue to the hospital for cytogenetic testing (from my sixth miscarriage). I had wanted to do this with previous losses but they never managed to do it. But today, I was told there was only a 25% chance of them getting a result, since the foetus was only 7 weeks' gestation (albeit discovered at my ten-week scan).

In which case, none of my losses would have been likely to get a result, as they all stopped growing between 6 and 7 weeks.

Has anyone managed to get a result with cytogenetic testing at this gestation?

I'm so sorry for your losses. I had 2 losses sent for testing at a very similar gestation. I was never told there was only a 25% chance of a result, I got a clear result from both x

Thanks so much for letting me know. It came as a real shock, since my GP hadn't told me anything like this.

Just found out that this came back with nothing i.e. nothing could be found from the sample. Feeling quite down about this...

@TammyinCork only around 5% of people that have the tissue sent off for testing find something out from it so please don't let that worry you too much. My nurse made a point of saying most people don't get an answer.

Thanks for that - it is reassuring...
