Anyone any experience of vitamin D and miscarriage?

Hi everyone 😊
I’ve recently had 2 early miscarriages after a previous healthy pregnancy and have just had a series of blood tests done. All results came back normal although my vitamin D levels were low. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? And how did you proceed/change your dosage when you became pregnant again?

Vitamin D means you don't get enough sunlight! It's very common. Also very easy to fix! Literally Vitamin D tablets. They are supplements. Check to see if safe to take during pregnancy.

Oh I know, I was taking vitamin D during pregnancy! I’m guessing that I should be taking a higher dosage in future pregnancies

Just been through similar- missed miscarriage in December and bloods after showed low vitamin d. I wonder now if it was related. Turns out the vitamins D in pregnancy multivitamin is low. Doctor recommended 4000 international units per day (could only get in Holland and Barrett) for I think about 8 weeks turn drop down to 2000 units a day. I don’t think will do any harm if no other conditions so might be worth trying. I’m soon to start another IVF cycle. I’d be interested to hear how you get on ❤

Thanks so much for this @HopeWillTriumph This is exactly what I was looking for. As you say, I don’t think it will do any harm so it’s definitely worth a go. I’ve also been prescribed progesterone so at least I feel like I’m on a better foot if I do fall pregnant again 😊

I also had very low vitamin D after my MMC.

I am still on 4000 iu per day. I have since had just two chemical pregnancies but I have been found to have other issues so vitamin D level for me Was not the issue although it wouldn’t of helped x

Sorry to hear about your losses @Objectiontime that’s a really difficult place to be in.Were you advised to stay on 4000 units? I’m just dropping down to 2000 but NHS haven’t offered a follow up blood test so I’ve no idea what my levels are

Thank you, I was advised I should likely be required to drop down to 2000 if I conceive again. I have recently found out that I am pregnant again but this is is my fourth pregnancy and with other issues I havent even thought about my vitamin D levels yet so thank you, you have reminded me! X
